Philosophy

Enkel focuses on transparency, quality and sustainability.

We believe that making long lasting garments in a timeless design is the most sustainable approach to fashion.

We want to expand the concept of slow fashion where consumers invest in long lasting, high quality classics they can trust produced under environmentally gentle conditions and with an ethical perspective on labour.

Enkel is a project of passion and a wish to show you the impact your clothing and your purchase choices have. By sharing the stories and journeys of each product enkel hopes to add some transparency into a business we all take part in every day.

We know that when we make a premium T-shirt that will last, you buy fewer items and enjoy the clothing you have and together we lower our environmental impact.

Made to last - sustainably

The fabric

To make a truly lasting product, we have sourced a premium cotton quality for our T-shirt yarn.

The organically farmed cotton is brushed, leaving only the long fibres for the yarn, which ensures a smoother surface and more natural elasticity wash after wash.

By choosing to work only with a premium yarn we know that the final T-shirt will be extra soft to the touch and keep its fit after many wears.

No twisting - better fit

Sustainability

To lower our carbon footprint we focus on local production. The cotton is grown, spun, knitted, dyed and sewn in Turkey and only then sent to our warehouse in Denmark.

To ensure that we deliver on our promise of transparency and ethical production, our suppliers are all GOTS certified (Global Organic Textile Standard) which is the leading sustainability certification of the fashion and textile industry.
It also means that our supply chain is continuously checked by a third party control instance.

The vision

Maja Trolle started enkel after a decade as a designer in the Danish fashion industry with the vision to produce better made garments at accessible prices.
After seeing the fast fashion world's continuous wear on our resources and adding to that an outdated business model, she knew that it was time to do something different.

She remembered finding one of her mother's T-shirts from the 70s as a teenager. It soon became a wardrobe favourite, one of those items that she would pull out over and over. It was comfortable, well fitted and best of all; it had stood the test of time because of its high quality and outlasted the high street tees by miles.
Why did we stop making clothes that last?

That thought became the foundation for enkel - to make a line of premium, sustainable wardrobe basics that you will love to wear and maybe even pass on.
